George III Late 18th Century Painted Cricket Table.
  • George III Late 18th Century Painted Cricket Table.

    Dimensions:
    Height – 74cm / Width – 80cm / Depth –80cm

A Provincial, Yorkshire cricket table made of pine and ash displaying the original crusty rusty red brown paint. Circular 3 plank top with under apron, raised on three beautifully turned and tapered legs. Derived from the archetypal three-legged stool or “cricket” the old term for stools, these tables were made to stand on uneven stone flagged floors.

This table has everything we love in a provincial piece of furniture. The pegged three planked top has developed a very pleasant warp which adds much character to the piece. The early rose-head nails in its top suggest 18th century or not much after 1800.

Structurally solid and sound with good tight joints.

Easily sit up to six people.
Character, charm, and signs of age and use a plenty!

Bought from a farm estate sale on the east Coast of Yorkshire.
