Chinese porcelain altar candlestick with drip catcher China, Qing dynasty (1644-1911),
清乾隆 青花花卉紋燭臺 19th century, of statuesque proportions and mallet-form; the body decorated in a late Qing design, porcelain with clear glaze, painted in underglaze blue trailing floral peony blossoms, tasselled knot balls and Greek key, also known as the meander repeating borders. The white of the porcelain has a blue hue, most of this type of porcelain was produced in Jingdezhen, or another Jiangxi Kiln China.
Excellent condition, reassuring presence of authentic firing spots and raised incised mark, underside. sympathetically mounted as a lamp (easily altered back to a candlestick). A rare find.
