Designed and patented (1911) by Anker S. Lyhne of Bridgeport, Connecticut. The Lyhne Lamp has become a sought-after example of early-20th-century industrial task lighting.
The arm can be adjusted in height and is articulated up and down using the original dial handle. It has a unique and ingenious parabolic reflector that on the shade, that can be rotated and adjusted 360 degrees to shed light on a desired position and protect eyes from strain and glare.
The elegant articulating arm joint retains the original knurled adjustment knob and the lamps weighted cast iron base provides plenty of stability. The base has a deeply embossed underside lettering. “Patented 1911, Lyhne Lamp Co”. It is also makers mark on the back of the parabolic shade.
We particularly like the colour of its japanning (oxidised bronze) with its full patented makes marks the lamp iis exceptional.
