A substantial and rare country vernacular armchair of handsome propertions in the manner of George Hepplewhite and of pegged and jointed construction. In great condition with two reeded splats either side an unassuming central pierced shielded splat, (specific to maker and region) over a boarded wainscot seat. Unusual twist to the arm rests. A superb example with great lines and overall deep colour and natural worn patina. Perfect side chair.
Untouched, as found condition.
A makers motif has been found to underside of chair, in the form of an unrefined, inlaid, stylised star, a beautifully naive feature. Specific to the make and the community he served.
